Once the President has assented to the proposed course of action, the files go back to the concerned Ministries. These wings perform tasks relating to constitutional, administrative, hospitality of State guests, petitions on wide ranging subjects from general public and maintenance of Rashtrapati Bhavan, President’s Estate and Gardens.Īll matters requiring attention of the President in matters relating to executive power and powers under statutes or relating to appointments of constitutional authorities are received in the President’s Secretariat from the nodal Ministries concerned and submitted to the President through the Secretary to the President. The President’s Secretariat includes Secretariat, Household and Garden workcharged establishments. The President’s Secretariat is headed by the Secretary to the President who is assisted by a team of officers as per details available on The President’s Secretariat website. The President’s Secretariat provides secretarial assistance to the President in discharging constitutional, ceremonial and other State responsibilities. He was sworn in as Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles on 27th October 2020.The President of India is the Head of the State and exercises powers as defined in the Constitution of India. Afif was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the national Assembly on the 6th March 2018. Afif is also the Vice Chairperson of the Finance and Public Accounts Committee. As well as representing the District of Anse Etoile on the National Assembly, Mr. In September 2016, he was elected as a member of the National Assembly for the District of Anse Etoile. Afif worked in the private sectors as a business and financial consultant. In 2008, he was instrumental in helping Government design and implement a major macro-economic reform involving major fiscal and monetary reforms and went on to serve the Ministry of Finance until 2012.
Afif has served on several Government Boards throughout the years, including Chairmanship of two state Banks, Nouvobanq and the Seychelles Savings Bank.
In 2005, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of SIBA and served until 2007 when he was appointed as the Principal Secretary of Finance & Trade. In 1995 he joined the newly offshore authority, SIBA before moving on to the Department of Finance, the Vice-President’s Office and later on the President’s Office undertaking various functions including economic policy and day to day running of the Government. Afif was awarded a Scholarship and attended Warwick University in the UK, where he later graduated with a Bachelor of Science in MORSE (Maths, Operational Research, Statistics & Economics) in 1992.Īfter graduating he returned to Seychelles and worked for the Department of Industry and later joined a task force set up in 1994 under the Central Bank of Seychelles to advise the Government on the setting up of an International Business sector for Seychelles. After completing his studies at the Polytechnic in 1987 he joined the Central Bank of Seychelles where he helped to enhance the existing systems and improve the work output as a Clerk.
